Early signs of ice-off on the lower lakes
We’re seeing signs of an abnormally early ice-off this year. The lower lakes have started to melt along the edges, and there are a few small seams of open water developing in the most sun-exposed areas.
As of 3/1/2026, there is still less than ~30% open water across the lower lakes. The remaining surface is still locked up with ice. Nighttime temperatures are hovering around freezing, so we anticipate it will be a couple more weeks before conditions open up for consistent fishing and we begin guided trips.
When the melt accelerates, we’ll keep updates simple: what’s open, what’s fishable, and what kind of day to expect. As soon as we see reliable access and safe, consistent water, we’ll begin scheduling guided days.
Member reminder
Members are welcome to two complimentary guided trips annually (up to 4 people per trip). If you’d like to get on the early-season list, email your preferred dates and group size and we’ll follow up as conditions improve.
We’ll update again as soon as ice-off progresses enough for consistent fishing.
